Jared Adams, B.A, M.A.S, ED.D Student in Higher Education

Jared Adams is a candidate to be a member of the Orange Board of Education. Jared is a long-time, City of Orange resident and a proud graduate of Heywood Ave School. Currently, Jared resides in the South Ward of Orange and is actively involved in building and shaping relationships in the City of Orange community. After graduating from high school, Jared earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Hampton University, a Master’s Degree in Administrative Sciences from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and is currently a candidate for a Doctoral Degree in Higher Education Leadership, Management and Policy at Seton Hall University. 

Professionally, Jared has been in Law Enforcement for 18 years. He currently serves as a member of the Orange Police Department as a Major Crimes Detective in the Investigative Division. Jared is a former school resource officer and was tasked with being the primary liaison to the Orange Public School District. As the OPD’s chief liaison to the school district, Jared has been instrumental in providing mentorship to students and security analysis between the Orange School district and the Orange Police Department. Furthermore, Jared has always used every opportunity to build positive relationships between the law enforcement community and the youth community. Jared has spearheaded several annual Male Empowerment workshops with the Orange School District which focused on youth acheivement, mental health and preparation for the future with Orange High School and S.TE.M young men. Understanding the need for mentors, Jared serves as a volunteer program coordinator for the National Guide Right Program and a summer camp sponsor to many families throughout the city. 

Jared’s ability to connect with residents and collaborate with officials has been strengthened by his experience as the head of the Maplewood and the Oranges Kappa League Program of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. Guide Right is a young men’s mentoring program that focuses on mentoring male students from 6th grade to 12th grade preparing the young men to attend and be successful in college. In his role, Jared collaborated with local fraternities, sororities and other community organizations to exposed scores of students to the college and career process. 

Beyond his professional achievements, Jared is dedicated to giving back to the community overall . His work with the community has given him the ability to actively support causes that are important to Orange families. He has leveraged his resources in the community and influence to gain resources to provide economic relief to those in need and scholarships to college-bound high school seniors. Jared has been a driving force behind career awareness by providing Highschoolers to obtain paid internships and professional access. Jared works with all city agencies to ensure that all city students have access to parks and safe routes to school. 

Parents and Orange school board members have described Jared Adams as an effective leader with a broad vision for advancing the upward mobility of Orange scholars. Jared will bring that same energy as a member of the City of Orange Township Board of Education.
