Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What plans does the One for Orange Team have to assist students with Special Needs?

A: The ONE for Orange Team believes that all scholars regardless of ability. deserve a high-quality education and equitable access to all Orange School District resources. Scholars who need extra assistance learning are not an “after-thought ” but are essential to the Orange Public School’s planning and policy. ONE for Orange shares a deep commitment to special education and inclusion. We have clear ideas and will work collaboratively in planning with families, educators and experts on providing the best education for Orange Scholars.

Q: How does the One for Orange Team plan to address the new development around the city to ensure schools do not become overcrowded?

A: ONE for Orange recognizes that the City of Orange is growing and we understand that parents are concerned over the possibility that one day class sizes may impact how Orange Scholars learn. Our plan is to work closely with city planners so we are aware of new housing before the shovel even hits the ground. Secondly, we will use enrollment projections to identify where growth will occur then adjust school boundaries or plan for facility expansions when needed. This way we are not reacting to over-crowding, we are preventing it

Q: What extra-curricular activities are planned to help students better use their time after school?

A: For the ONE for Orange Team, Extracurricular activities aren’t just about filling time after school. Activities build confidence, leadership, teamwork, and creativity. It also allows scholars to engage in positive and productive ways. We want to make sure we have activities for all scholars, whether they are into sports, theater, robotics or serving the community. We will work with local organizations to create new after-school clubs, expand athletic and arts programs, while ensuring that cost is never a barrier to participation.

Q: How does the One for Orange Team plan to increase Teacher and Staff retention?

A: The One for Orange Team believes the core value of retention=stability=better scholar outcomes. Great schools start with great educators. Our team will ensure that teachers feel valued, supported and heard at all times. Right now, many districts in New Jersey are struggling to keep teachers and support staff due to burnout, rising cost of living and a competitive job market. Therefore, we will work with district leaders to keep salaries competitive, increase mentorship and staff development so teachers constantly grow in their careers and create a work environment where teachers feel supported and respected.
